Farmworker Union Demonstration Planned For Thursday
A demonstration is planned for Thursday at the Troutdale, OR, Home Depot, to protest the company's actions in connection with the President's immigration policies.
"It's going to be the first in a series of monthly actions to stand against Trump's escalating and harmful attacks on our immigrant communities," said Reyna Lopez, President of PCUN, a farmworkers union. She added people are being violently arrested, and at least eight U.S. citizens were detained without access to an attorney.
Luci Longoria, with Portland for All, says they want to send a message to businesses:
"To Home Depot and dozens of other corporations supporting the disappearance of millions of immigrant Americans here pursuing their American dream, shame, shame on you," Longoria said.
During each monthly demonstration, they ask immigrant workers and supporters to avoid doing business with those companies.
