Oregon Farmstand Rules Put On Hold
Governor Tina Kotek said last week she heard anxiety and frustration over the possibility of new rules for farmstands and agritourism in Oregon.
"Right now, all of the farmstand rules are on pause and I don’t know when we’ll restart," she said.
Neighbors Raised Concerns
The Department of Land Conservation and Development was accepting public comment on potential rules; after receiving traffic and noise complaints about on-farm wedding venues, dinners and other public events. Kotek said she wants to continue to support small and midsized farmers.
"Agritourism in the state of Oregon is very successful," Kotek said. "I think it upholds our land use values, but also makes sure that those farmers are there year in and year out."
The Governor added her order to pause rulemaking will allow for more conversations with everyone involved.
