The National Governors Association (NGA), National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) and National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) stressed the importance of approving a farm bill before the expiration of the current one in 2018.

In the statement, the group said, “Congress plays a vital role in ensuring a bountiful agricultural economy, especially amid the farm industry’s current downturn. We ask you to provide these hard-working producers the tools they need to succeed.”

Congress has been in the early negotiation stages of the next farm bill for some months now, but nothing has been moved out of a committee.

The full letter can be read on the NASDA website.
