Entrepreneurial Training Available to Help Turn Ideas into Products

Researchers and scientists from across the nation are turning their ideas into viable commercial products through the i-FAST, Innovations in Food and Agricultural Science Technologies, program.

USDA’s Sonny Ramaswamy says the training they receive through the program and competition can pay off.

“Cornell has a company that they’ve created, it’s called Flora-Pulse, and it is about coming up with truly efficient irrigation systems particularly for specialty crops like fruits and vegetables and things like that. They’ve got additional funding, they’re looking for venture capital as a result of the training they went through in the i-FAST program.”

Lincoln University researchers turned a pathogen detection biotechnology test kit into a company that helps in food safety.
