The Annual Dairy Day event takes place on Tuesday in the Legislative Building in Olympia.

Washington State Dairy Federation Communications Manager Scott Dilley said they want to get in front of legislators and tell the story, not only of the dairy industry, but all producers.

“The issues impacting agriculture are not just ones for the rural economy, they’re really for everyone both rural and urban. Everyone in Washington has to eat and dairy farmers produce what I would consider to be the best milk and cheese.”

Dairy Day will consist of producers and others from the industry handing out samples of milk, ice cream and other dairy products to the legislators to engage them in policy conversation.

Dilley said running a dairy farm has become very challenging and they have a message for Olympia.

“They just want to be left alone. They want to do what they know to do and do it the best they can and they don’t want a lot of government interference. What they want is to just be able to continue what they’re doing.”

Dilley said anyone in the industry is invited to participate and they will meet a little before noon on the third floor to get ready.
