The rules and tips for growing WA-38, better known as cosmic crisp, were the key highlights for the latest field day at WSU's Sunrise Orchard near Wenatchee.

Kevin Brandt from PVM spoke about where to find trees, where the fruit can be sold, royalties and much more to several growers who had come to the event.

Dr. Stefano Mussachi spoke on pruning, particularly click pruning, and how that can help growers in several different ways. He was joined by Dr. Karen Lewis who talked about the strategies and possibilities of mechanically pruning the trees.

The event wrapped up with Dr. Ines Hanrahan who spoke about the best time to harvest the fruit, and it's storage capabilities.

One grower at the event said they have already planted some trees and finding some challenges that caused them to lose trees, but that they are very excited about the new variety.
