Farmers and ranchers who want to participate in the census of agriculture can still sign up with the USDA.

Joe Parsons with USDA’s National Agriculture Statistics Service said the data gathered from producers has a major impact.

“It helps make better decisions for farm safety net programs and policies and that policy development. In terms of technical and financial assistance and those awards to states and how those get allocated or structured, the census of agriculture data is used for that. It helps us understand things that we don’t often do surveys on such as ag tourism.”

The deadline is June. To sign up, visit agcensus.usda.gov and click on the “Make Sure You Are Counted Button.”
