For the Biden Administration, climate change is a major issue.

"As we think about our whole of government effort to address this climate crisis we need to figure out how to measure, quantify and track climate-smart agriculture and forestry activity develop a strategy that works for all of our producers and land owners," said Deputy Agriculture Secretary Jewel Bronaugh. "Also thinking about wildfires, how do we develop resilient strategies for addressing wildfires and managing our forests effectively of course we're going to rely heavily on research at USDA"

She added that USDA will leverage its existing programs, and develop more voluntary market opportunities.

"We want to ensure that this is producer-based and that we also respect and utilize the ideas of many of our farmers and ranchers who have been doing these great practices for many years."
