Producers who elected to use ARC or PLC need to make sure to get signed up soon.

Brent Orr with the USDA’s Farm Service Agency said it’s just a matter of days.

“ARC and PLC signup began last November for fiscal year 2017 and will conclude on August 1st.”

Each producer selected if they wanted to participate in the risk management programs at the beginning of the farm bill in 2014.

Orr said just because you made the decision at that time, or enrolled in previous years, doesn’t mean you can miss the deadline.

“Annually we require the producers to make a decision to enroll those farms. Enrollment is a much different thing than picking the program, so all farms that have base acres where the producers on the farm want to participate in ARC or PLC have to enroll that farm by August 1st.”
