Ag Exports Wrapped Up 2021 With A Big Finish

The 2021 calendar year has the honor of being the best U.S. agricultural export year, with record sales valued at $177 billion; up 18% from 2020. One reason for the record setting year was how it ended. With November sales the highest of any month in history and follow that with December, which USDA Economist Bart Kenner noted had the highest December exports on record. So far all of last year, almost all of the major bulk commodities showing "impressive" export increases.

"Exports of wheat were $7.2-billion for calendar year '21; up 15% for 2020.  Exports of corn were $18.7-billion; up 103%.  Exports of soybeans were $27.4-billion; up 7%."

The only commodity which saw an export decline; cotton down 4% last year.
