The annual Spring Farming Days is taking place this weekend at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Pomeroy.

President of the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum Jay Franks says they’ll have horses and mules plowing, live demonstrations, historical machines and much more.

“What we’re trying to do is preserve history, show what it was like when a day’s work was really a day’s work and show that things were made by peoples’ ingenuity, not so much by a computer printing it out.”

There are two buildings and 17,000 square feet housing the machines and demonstrations.

Franks says there are several people he sees every year that come back to the event, but he hopes to see more young people.

“That heritage is going away fast. We find that each generation has less and less interest in the way things were in the old days.”

Start time for the events is 9:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday April 2nd and 3rd.
