The Northwest continues to dry out, and for the first time this summer, the D1 designation has been reported in Washington.  According to the latest USDA numbers, nearly 2% of the Evergreen state is under a Moderate Drought, or D1 designation.  The impacted area is Pend Oreille and Spokane counties.

The rest of Washington, with the exception of the peninsula remains under the D0, or Abnormally Dry.  In Oregon, statistics have not changed with nearly 59% of the state considered Abnormally Dry.

The western U.S. remain very dry, with over 12% considered Server Drought or worse.  All of that designation falls in Montana.
