Equine Herpes Virus

Last month, state departments of agriculture nationwide were put on alert after an outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus/Equine Herpes Myeloencephalopathy was connected to a barrel racing and rodeo event down in Texas and Oklahoma.

Just before Thanksgiving, the Oregon Department of Agriculture was notified by a private veterinarian of a horse at a large boarding facility in Lane County exhibiting neurologic symptoms.

The Northwest rodeo community and horse owners are being warned of an outbreak of Equine Herpes Virus, better known as EHV.
