The largest winery in Washington has purchased a California company.   According to the Puget Sound Business Journal, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates has acquired Patz & Hall winery.  Industry experts said the purchase of this small  winery provides Ste. Michelle access to top-quality pinot noir, as well as vineyards that produce premium wine grapes.

In addition, Ste. Michelle also picks up interests in Patz & Hall’s winemaking facility, the visitors’ center in Sonoma, and inventory of wines.  It’s estimated that Patz & Hall produces about 35,000 cases, or 83,000 gallons, of wine annually.

Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
