The reward for information regarding the poisoning of the Catherine wolf pack earlier this year in NE Oregon has increased to $36,000. That after Wolves of the Rockies contributed an additional $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest or citation in the cases.

Oregon State Police were called to a dead wolf near Mount Harris in Union County back in February. When Fish and Wildlife troopers arrived, they found five dead wolves, which made up the entire Catherine pack. Toxicology reports revealed all five had been poisoned. Over the next several months, three additional wolves, two magpies and a skunk, were also found poisoned.

Anyone with information on these poisonings is asked to contact OSP through the Turn In Poachers Line at (800) 452-7888 or *OSP (*677) from a mobile device.

“Poisoning is a horrific way to die and shows a blatant disregard of respect that we should have for our wolves and all wildlife," said Marc Cooke, president the advocate group Wolves of the Rockies.

"We are furious and appalled," said Sristi Kamal, senior northwest representative for Defenders of Wildlife, "Such a targeted attack against these incredible creatures is unacceptable and we hope our reward will help bring the criminals who did this to justice."

"Poachers steal natural resources that belong to all of us," said campaign coordinator Yvonne Shaw or Oregon’s Turn In Poachers, or TIP, Line.

Reward so far for information that leads to an arrest or citation in the case of the Catherine pack poisoning, along with the additional likely related case of three additional wolves, includes:

  • Wolves of the Rockies: $10,000
  • Oregon Wild: $5000
