ODFW Called To First Wolf Depredation of September, 12th Of The Year

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife crews were called to a wolf depredation outside of Klamath Falls Wednesday morning. When investigators arrived they found a 700 pound yearly steer dead in a 300 acre private land pasture. A majority of the organs and muscle tissue from the hindquarters had been consumed. Its estimated that the steer had been dead less than 24 hours. Because of bite and scrape marks on the carcass, investigators determined the steer had died by wolf attack.

Last week’s depredation has been attributed to the Rouge Pack. Wednesday’s depredation was the 12^th of 2020 statewide.
