We told you last week that the amount of Washington and Oregon that were considered abnormally dry has risen, particularly in the Evergreen State.

USDA Meteorologist Brad Rippey said they call abnormally dry a D-0 classification and it’s concerning.

“Those big increases in D-0 coverage across the Northwest and into the Great Basin are reflective of conditions that have not yet reached drought status but it’s a little bit of early warning indicator that drought could develop, at least short-term drought.”

With the high temperatures, that means there are also more concerns about wildfires.
