The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife says a wolf was killed after chronic depredations in the NE corner of the state. The yearling male was a member of the Chesnimnus Pack and was killed Tuesday May 3rd under a kill permit issued by ODFW to a livestock producer after three calves were killed in three days. ODFW said additional livestock owned by the same producer was injured in another public-land pasture. The permit issued by the state allows for one more wolf to be taken to reduce depredations. That permit runs through May 24th.

Lethal take can be authorized by ODFW in chronic depredation situations when there is significant risk to livestock present in the area and non-lethal were being used prior to depredations. Under the state Wolf Plan Rules, the depredations by the Chesnimnus pack met the definition of chronic livestock depredation under Wolf Plan Rules; minimum of two confirmed depredations in nine months.
